IMDB rating: 6.60 Plot: Capitalizing on his fame as the star of “Hogan’s Heroes,” Bob Crane (Greg Kinnear) dove into the freewheeling spirit of the 60s and 70s with relish, having affairs with numerous women. Eventually, Crane teamed up with video technician John Carpenter to document his exploits, an association that may very well have led to his murder in a Scottsdale, Arizona motel room in 1978, which remains officially unsolved to this day. |

Manual focus to infinity with Olympus Pen E-P1 and Panasonic micro four thirds?
I have Panasonic’s micro four thirds 20mm f/1.7 pancake lens on the Olympus Pen and it takes GREAT shots. I’m really pleased.
One problem: trying to focus at night – I can’t get it to focus at infinity. It has a focus by wire, so there is no feedback and nothing on the LCD to indicate when you’ve reached infinity. I can roll and roll and roll it but when I take a picture of stars they are not in focus. I’m aware that long shutter speeds will result in star tracks – but that’s not it because if I use auto focus on the moon the stars turn out great. So how can I focus, manual or otherwise, on infinity (stars) if there is nothing bright enough to focus on near infinity?
Jim A’s suggestion is a very simple, fast, and effective work-around.
If you plan to use manual focus, make sure the camera is set to MF mode and use the focus magnification feature to preview your focus more accurately on the LCD.
BTW: If you roll the focus ring to one end enough times, it should either be at the closest focus or the farthest (which should be infinity or even possibly "beyond infinity"). If it looks completely blurry, swing the ring safely to the other end. If no change is seen on the LCD, MF is probably not enabled. Focus-by-wire can be a little weird, but if your fingers and ears are sensitive enough you can actually feel and hear the motion of the lens as you turn the focus ring
